In the first part of her presentation Bettina Schlorhaufer examines the historical development of winter sports and its technical equipment. The second part is devoted to the Winter Olympic Games in 1964 and 1976 in Innsbruck. The focus is the genesis of the district “Olympic Village” (“Olympisches Dorf”), the urban planning strategies that have been implemented in its realization and the situation of the district since the end of the Winter Games.
